Rights of use and obligations

    Use of the data at the Research Data Centre of the German Pension Insurance is subject to clearly defined obligations, which ensure that the data is used in a responsible manner in compliance with data protection requirements.

    Rights of use

    The rights of use grant you access to our data for scientific purposes. They permit analysis of the datasets exclusively in connection with the agreed research project.

    • Data use: The data may only be used in the research project stated in the application. Any further use or provision of the data is not permitted. The extension of data use requires further approval by the FDZ-RV.
    • Publications: Results obtained on the basis of the data may be published, provided that the anonymity of the insured persons, rehabilitation patients and pensioners as well as the institutions and responsible bodies of the pension insurance schemes is maintained and the source of the data is properly cited.

    Obligations in connection with use

    • Data protection: Researchers are obligated to comply with the applicable data protection laws and regulations. {forschungsdaten.de}
    • Data security: It must be ensured that the data is protected against unauthorised access throughout the entire usage period through to deletion.
    • Specimen copy: In the case of publications based on FDZ-RV data, the FDZ-RV must be informed accordingly and provided a specimen copy. Sources must also be correctly cited in accordance with the citation information.
    • Data deletion: Once the research project is completed, the datasets must be deleted in accordance with the data protection regulations. In the case of off-site use, the deletion of the data must be reported to the FDZ-RV in writing. In the case of on-site use, the data is automatically deleted by the FDZ after the end of the project. For subsequent use in another project, we recommend saving the analysis scripts.
    • Declaration of commitment: All researchers involved in the project must sign a declaration in which they commit to comply with the terms of use.
